The early generations of this lineage were Quaker. Samuel Parks married Elizabeth Hudson 9 January 1744 in Perquimans County, North Carolina.

Samuel Parks married Mary (Vaughn?) and left a will in 1788 in Orange County, North Carolina. He received several land grants along the north side of the Haw River, leaving much of it to his wife and children in his will.

Hugh Parks, Sr., a Revolutionary War veteran, enlisted in Orange County, North Carolina. He married Elizabeth Barnhill 18 December 1781 in Rutherford County, North Carolina. Though not mentioned in the 1788 Orange County will of Samuel Parks, it is likely Hugh Parks is a son.

Samuel Parks was born in North Carolina, most likely in Orange County. He may have married more than once, but only known spouse is Cerissa/Clarissa Martin, no marriage date discovered. Samuel appears in the 1830 Roane County, Tennessee census, and may appear in the 1840 Polk County, Tennessee census

Thomas Parks, a Revolutionary War veteran, served in an artillery unit in Pennsylvania. After the war, he moved to Mason County, Kentucky where he married Ann Wilson 10 October 1791. The family moved to Orange County, Indiana where he died 10 April 1831.
